The often controversial pop icon Britney Spears shows her softer side in E!’s new documentary, that follows the star as she prepares for her upcoming Las Vegas residency. The sometimes volatile starlet claims that she has been misunderstood from the very beginning of her career. According to Brittany, she is too shy and modest for show business.
The star's meteoric rise to fame in the early 2000s, as America's little darling and steamy sex symbol, was brought to a stark decent following her eccentric public behavior in 2007. It was apparently a dark time in the singer's life. She speaks candidly about it in E!'s new documentary (via Huffington Post):
"There was a time in my life when I couldn't ever leave the house without 20 cars following me. I felt very alienated from the public. But as time passed, they lightened up and they kind of went away after I wouldn't come out of the house for like two years."
Spears explains in the documentary how the daily pressure and expectations began to affect her moods and mental state. As someone who has spent almost their entire life in show business, Britney laments that it may not be the best fit for her personality:
"I have always been kind of shy, since I was a little girl. It's who I am to be modest, so I really can't help it. I turn into this different person...seriously, bipolar disorder...This is all I've known all my life--cameras, being followed, being part of the industry.I'm not really made for this industry."
Now that Britney Spears has explained so clearly why she isn't cut out for the music industry, one has to wonder if she hasn't asked herself, "Oops, why am i doing this again?"
