It is not a secret that Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kandi Burruss’ mother is no fan of her man, Todd Tucker. The star’s mom, Joyce, has made it known for months now that she believes Kandi’s fiance is cheating on her with her assistant and best friend, Cameron. All the acrimony has led Kandi to even consider not having the wedding altogether. What is a little less known is where she got these ideas in the first place. Once again, TV villain Wendy Williams is to blame.
Kandi Burress, who has been engaged since the beginning of the year, has stuck by her man through the entire escapade, but still wants her mother to be a part of her life. She wants it badly enough to bring all of her wedding plans to a complete halt. She laid it all out in an interview with ABC News Radio a few weeks ago (via Radar Online):
“I haven’t decided yet if I want something that’s small and just us or if we wanted to do something bigger and invite people. What was stopping me from even planning is the fact that my mom is not being supportive. It’s like, okay, do I really want to have a wedding and my mom may not show up or if she does show up she’s going to be mean and negative? You know, you don’t want the bad energy either.”
And just what is the source of all this wedding stopping grief? Apparently, the answer to that question is busy-body Wendy Williams. Kandi’s mother is an avid watcher of the show, and has begun to let Wendy Williams warp her world view. Burress explains in the latest issue of In Touch Weekly:
“Last year, every week, Wendy was saying negative things about my relationship with Todd, [on her talk show] and then my mom would come back and say, ‘Yeah, Wendy said...’ I was like, I don’t care what Wendy said!’”
The answer to this particular question seems apparent. Kandi Burress should just make Wendy Wiliams a bridesmaid. What do you think about all this? Should Kandi have the wedding without her mom? Should Joyce just go along with things to make her daughter happy, no matter what Wendy Williams thinks? Should Williams officiate? Leave your comments in the field below.
