Today, two of the universe's finest superheroes unite in one massive blockbuster film. Batman and Guardians of the Galaxy’s Rocket Raccoon are teaming up...well not really. But, The Dark Knight star, Christian Bale, and GOTG’s Bradley Cooper are starring in the new film American Hustle, which comes out today.
One of the most well reviewed films of the year is coming out today. Christian Bale and Bradley Cooper star in David O. Russell’s American Hustle.
In the new film, Bale gained 50 pounds (and possibly diabetes) for the role. Bale, like Tom Hanks and Robert De Niro, is famous for gaining and losing weight for roles. However, Cooper almost had to take the weight gaining part, when Bale’s Dark Knight schedule originally conflicted with the filming. Cooper recently spoke with MTV about almost having to switch roles:
"Christian was gonna do it, then he couldn't do it, so I was gonna swap over and play Irving, and Jeremy [Renner] was gonna play the FBI agent, and then Christian came back available and we slid back."
Cooper is also starring in 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy. In the new film, the handsome devil stays behind the scenes as the voice of Rocket Raccoon. Cooper also spoke with MTV about working with director James Gunn on the part:
"It's been great. The great thing about [Gunn] is that I tried to set the ground rules early. I said, 'Look, you don't have to sugar-coat anything. Just tell me exactly what you want,' I think he was basically going like, 'Did you think I would do anything else?' "
American Hustle is out in theaters everywhere today. Check out the film and let us know if you think Cooper and Bale should have traded roles or not.
