Amanda Bynes 2013 Mental Health Improving: Dog Given Away Following Schizophrenic Illness [UPDATE]

Amanda Bynes mental health seems to be greatly improving in 2013, with the starlet actually applying to colleges. The latest news surrounding the actress involves her dog being given away, following her high-profile battle with Schizophrenia and other mental illnesses.

As usual, it was TMZ who first broke the news of Amanda’s former doggy. According to the gossip site, the dog was given to a family friend after Amanda accidently drenched it in gasoline:

“Good news dog lovers--Amanda Bynes' canine (the one she accidentally soaked in gasoline back in July while setting a neighbor's driveway on fire) has been placed in a new home...far, far away from Amanda and flammables.”

The gossip site goes on to describe the fate of the pooch. Turns out Amanda’s mom was caring for the dog, but the pint-sized pup didn’t get along with the family’s other dog:

“Sources close to the Bynes family tell us, Sherbert was taken away from Amanda after she was placed on a 5150 psychiatric hold in the summer. While she was in rehab, we're told Amanda's parents cared for Sherbert...but have since given him away to a family friend because Sherbert didn't get along with the Bynes family's other dogs.”

Tamar Arminak, the Bynes’ family attorney, recently had some good news to announce, when the lawyer informed the world that Amanda has been released from the mental health institute:

"Amanda and her entire family would like to thank everyone who's contacted them with good thoughts and wishes for Amanda's recovery. She's feeling better every day. Despite the fact Amanda is no longer in a facility, her outpatient treatment is continuing. She's very happy to reestablish the loving relationship with her family that she once shared."
