'Guardians of the Galaxy' and ‘American Hustle’ Bradley Cooper Talks Alcohol Abuse

Bradley Cooper’s star has never been brighter. From his super successful run in the Hangover series to his Academy Award nominated role in 2012’s Silver Linings Playbook, Cooper's future seems Limitless (pun very much intended). Now the actor has two highly-anticipated new projects, including the soon to be released American Hustle and 2014’s superhero flick, Guardians of the Galaxy. Cooper is crediting all his success to a decision he made ten years ago, as he recently opened up about getting help for his alcohol abuse.

If Zac Efron taught us anything it is that you can’t be a handsome man in Hollywood without a few demons. Bradley Cooper currently has the handsome part down, so what about the demons. The Hangover star recently spoke with GQ, where he revealed that he struggled with alcohol addiction over a decade before getting help for the disease:

"If I continued it, I was really going to sabotage my whole life."

The decision paid off because Cooper is now on the biggest names in Hollywood. Cooper can be seen (sort of) in 2014’s Marvel superhero film, Guardians of the Galaxy. Cooper is providing the voice for the gun-toting space raccoon, Rocket Raccoon. In an recent interview with MTV, Cooper spoke up about his voice over role and working with GOTG director James Gunn:

"It's been great. The great thing about [Gunn] is that I tried to set the ground rules early. I said, 'Look, you don't have to sugar-coat anything. Just tell me exactly what you want,' I think he was basically going like, 'Did you think I would do anything else?' "

Before GOTG hits the big screen, Cooper will share the screen with former Batman actor, Christian Bale, in the highly anticipated and critically acclaimed, American Hustle.

American Hustle opens this friday, December 20.
