Jon Favreau to Direct Film Version of 'Jersey Boys' Musical

Jon Favreau will be directing the film adaptation of the Broadway hit musical "Jersey Boys."

The American actor and director announced on Twitter he will direct a big-screen version of the Tony Award-winning musical, the story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons' rise to fame.

"Yes, I'm directing Jersey Boys, and there's an open call for the lead roles," Favreau tweeted on Wednesday.

Since its Broadway debut in 2005, the stage musical has been a huge success, giving more than 2000 performances. It also made its West End debut at Prince Edward Theatre in London in 2008.

Adapted from the hit musical, "Jersey Boys" follows the story of American singer Frankie Valli and the other members of "The Four Seasons," rock and pop band who became internationally successful in the mid-1960s.

Favreau, 45, is best known for directing "Iron Man," "Swingers," and "Elf."

Casting has been announced for the four lead roles, and other casting is yet to be confirmed.

Filming is expected to start early next year in New Jersey and New York.
