Ben Affleck Blasts Republicans and Paparazzi, Fights for Children After Jennifer Garner Divorce Rumors

Ben Affleck is heading to Washington...sort of. The actor has been talking an awful lot about politics lately, and to Playboy of all people. Affleck recently opened up about his disdain for Republican actors. He also revealed how he and his wife have been fighting the paparazzi on behalf of their children, despite divorce rumors.

Ben Affleck and his wife helped lobby for a new California law that offers a hefty fine and a possible two-years jail time for any photographer who terrorizes a child, regardless of who their parents are. The new law will take effect on January 2014 and will protect all children 16-years-old or under.

Affleck recently spoke with Playboy about the need for the new law:

"My kids aren't celebrities. They never made that bargain."

Affleck later elaborated on just how scary and traumatic the paparazzi can be to a small child:

"The tragic thing is, people who see those pictures naturally think it's sweet. They don't see the gigantic former gang member with a huge lens standing over a 4-year-old and screaming to get the kid's attention. The kids are always looking down because they're freaked out and scared of these people. And so they yell. Which is fine if you're Lindsay Lohan coming out of a club, or me, or any adult. With kids, it's tasteless at best."

The paparazzi weren't the only people that earned Baffleck's wrath. Ben, an outspoken Democrat, went on to bash Republican actors:

“…You can bifurcate your audience. When I watch a guy I know is a big Republican, part of me thinks, I probably wouldn’t like this person if I met him, or we would have different opinions. That sh*t fogs the mind when you should be paying attention and be swept into the illusion.”

However, he doesn't just throw his support out to the Dems all willy nilly:

“I don’t blindly do this stuff when it makes it harder to do my own job.And there’s an awful lot of gross money-raising going on that has made me want to pull back a bit from pure electoral politics.”
