‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ and ‘Amazing Spider-Man’ Crossover: Venom Joins Chris Pratt’s Starlord in Free Comic Movie Teaser

Marvel is crossing streams with its 2014 Free Comic Book Day event. Recently, the company announced that Spider-Man’s Venom will be teaming up with the Guardians of the Galaxy. Where it is highly unlikely that The Amazing Spider-Man will be meeting up with the GOTG on the big screen, fans will get a tiny teaser what a movie crossover could look like. This year’s FCBD giveaway GOTG comic will feature a special issue with Chris Pratt’s version on Starlord on the cover.

Each year, comic book companies come together and give away free issues to lure in new reader. Marvel is going all out this spring with it 2014 Free Comic Book Day event. Marvel Entertainment’s SVP of Sales and Print and Digital media, David Gabriel, released a statement to the press about the companies plans for 2014:

“Each year, Free Comic Book Day stands as one of the best resources for retailers to help bring new fans into their store. So we’re celebrating this year’s FCBD in style with new stories featuring everyone’s favorite wall-crawler and the soon-to-be hit movie stars of summer 2014!”

Marvel’s Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy will battle it out with the Sony-owned Amazing Spider-Man 2 for big screen supremacy in 2014. However, the GOTG and the Spideyverse will cross over in the comics before then. Venom is the newest member of the comic-book vesion of the Guardians of the Galaxy. Venom (Flash Thompson) is one of two members introduced in the new story.

Marvel's Senior Editor Stephen Wacker spoke about the new story in a press release:

“With Nick joining the all-star creative of Brian and Sara Pichelli, Guardians of the Galaxy promises to be THE book that Marvel readers will be talking about all the way through to the opening of their movie in August,And with two new members causing all sorts of problems, the galaxy’s least likely super hero team is going to find itself in a whole mess of trouble.”
