Church of Scientology: Tom Cruise Publicist and Trial, Kirstie Alley and Leah Remini Feud after ‘DWTS’ and Howard Stern

Time for another Church of Scientology update. Tom Cruise, the world’s most famous scientologist, recently had his former publicist make some not so nice comments about his religion. These statements follow leaked excerpts from his trial against a major U.S. tabloid. Another noted scientologist, Kirstie Alley, continued her feud with DWTS’ Leah Remini, when she appeared on Howard Stern.

Pat Kingsley, who was Tom Cruise’s agent from 1990-2004, recently sat down with The Hollywood Reporter. When asked about Tom Cruise’s religion, she admitted that she did have to ask Tom to calm down about Scientology:

"I did have that conversation with Tom, about cooling it. [I said] ‘Scientology is fine. You want to do a tour for Scientology? Do a tour for Scientology. But Warner Bros. is sponsoring this tour.' That was for [2003's] The Last Samurai. He didn't say yes or no, except he did not discuss Scientology on that European tour."

Of course, Tom also found himself in the hotseat when he recently testified against a major tabloid, who claimed that Cruise abandoned his daughter over Scientology. TMZ claims to have obtained court documents, which reveal:

“In the deposition...Cruise squirmed in his chair as the lawyer for the magazine repeatedly asked if Katie fled their marriage because of the Church. Cruise hemmed and hawed, suggesting it wasn't true, and then the lawyer asked whether 'Katie Holmes left you in part to protect Suri from Scientology.' Cruise answered: ‘Did she say that? That was one of the assertions, yes.’”

Another famous scientologist, Kirstie Alley, recently went on the attack. While speaking with Howard Stern, the rotund actress explained why she considers Leah Remini an enemy:

"First of all, I just want everyone to know I have hundreds of friends who have come into Scientology and left Scientology. You're not shunned, you're not chased. All that stuff's bulls-t. When you're generalizing and when your goal is to malign and to say things about an entire group…when you decide to blanket statement that Scientology is evil, you are my enemy. I have blocked her on Twitter. Because she is a bigot. If someone was out there (attacking your religion) would they be your friend? They wouldn't be mine."
