Garth Brooks is one of the best selling artists of all times. The legendary singer ranks just below Elvis and The Beatles at the top of the charts, so it shouldn’t surprise anyone that his latest box-set album collection has reached number one. This has been a big week for Brooks. On Monday, he announced that he was coming out of retirement and going on tour.
Now that Brooks’ kids are all grown up, the singer is free to hit the road again. Brooks spoke to Star Tribune about his after retirement plans:
"Me and Miss Yearwood are free to do whatever it is we want to do. And I've got to tell you: Anything I do with that woman, I'm fine with. Any place that I am with that woman is home to me. But if I have my wishes, it's going to be filled with music, and it's going to be filled with music at a level I've never seen before."
As expected, Brooks has announced a new tour. Garth broke the news of the new tour on ABC’s Good Morning America:
“It sure feels good to get to throw your hat back in the ring. All my babies are fine with it. Ms. Yearwood is fine with it. So now I get to do what I love to do, which is play music. I get to be with the person I want to be with, which is Ms. Yearwood...Our baby is a senior in high school. My children are off on their own so the guilt of not being there…I’m a phone call dad now. ‘Hey Dad, I love you, can I borrow some money?’ ”
Meanwhile, Brooks’ new box-set album collection, Blame it All on My Roots has reached the top of the charts. This is Brooks ninth number one record. The success is extra impressive considering that it was sold exclusively at Wal-Mart and is not available on iTunes.
