Marvel’s ‘Agents of SHIELD’ Reveals Coulson’s Secret and ‘Captain America 2’ Crossover [SPOILERS]

This week’s mid-season finale of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. teases that Agent Coulson is getting closer to revealing his big secret. Meanwhile, the show is reportedly planning a Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier crossover. Warning Spoilers Below!

We we last saw Agent Coulson, he was taken captive by Centipede, who wanted to uncover the truth behind his resurrection. S.H.I.E.L.D. producer Jeffrey Bell recently spoke to MTV about Coulson’s big secret:

"As Coulson comes to the questioning what's happened, that's really interesting story stuff for our character. That to us was something that pays off much better than the holy s**t of it, because there's only so many holy s--ts it could be. That said, I hope we have a cool holy s**t."

At the beginning of the series, Coulson actor Greg Clark spoke with New York Post about his secret :

“Phil Coulson knows exactly what happened on the heli-carrier and the way that Director Fury used it to direct The Avengers. What’s clear is there’s a whole lot more to the story than that. I absolutely believe that’s [a story line] that will become something. I really love playing the guy. He’s a combo platter of snarky sarcasm with superheroes, and he occasionally gets to do some scary stuff that I really enjoy. This world that we’re showing needs someone who doesn’t have superpowers, who can be stabbed and hurt. That’s what made me sign on to the show: this is a role that people around the world have embraced. That’s really moving and fun for me.”

Speaking of agents, the series recently introduced Thor’s Agent Sitwell. Agent Jasper Sitwell has a long history in the comics, dating back to 1966. Sitwell made his first appearance in the MCU in 2011’s Thor, although, his appearances went mostly unnoticed by casual viewers.

That is until now. Sitwell is rumored to play a much larger role in the upcoming 2014 film, Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier. Diamond Select toys recently released a list of Cap 2 movie figures to MTV News that includes the agent's name. Seeing as how the character was recently introduced in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, it's highly likely that his role in Captain America 2 will spill over into the show.
