DC’s TV universe keeps getting better and better. Not only has Arrow introduced The Flash, but rumor has it that Batman’s sidekick Nightwing might be coming to Starling City. Meanwhile, a young Bruce Wayne is set to appear in Fox’s new series, Gotham.
Warner Brothers studio is getting pretty serious about its DC comics division. The company is taking over the small screen with its hit series Arrow. Earlier in the year, it was announced that Fox is planning a Batman prequel called Gotham. The new series is based around detective Jim Gordon. Now it is being reported that the show will feature a ten-year-old Bruce Wayne. TV Show Auditions is reporting on an early synopsis:
"Set in the early days of James Gordon's police tenure, when he meets a boy named Bruce Wayne..."
Gotham has reportedly been in production for a year now and is scheduled to begin filming in March of 2014. The show was given a rarely awarded straight-to-series order, skipping the need for a pilot.
Meanwhile, Batman’s sidekick, Nightwing, might be joining the cast of Arrow. Meanwhile, TVD's Steven McQueen has been teasing his casting by tweeting:
“Nightwing training @ARROWwriters @GBerlanti @KyleDHiggins @RapaportCasting.”
McQueen later added:
“Had some superhero conversations with the executives this weekend @ARROWwriters.”
Nightwing is also expected to appear in the upcoming Batman Vs Superman. Arrow producer, Greg Berlanti, recently spoke with Fandango about combining the universes:
"We haven’t had any of those conversations other than to say, what characters are we allowed to use this year and advocate or request certain ones that are of interest to us. And every now and then, they’ll say, ‘You can’t have that guy.’ They don’t say why, and we figure out why later on."
Arrow’s Stephen Amell recently spoke with Digital Spy about joining the Justice League:
"I'd sweep their floors. Any opportunity to be a part of the Justice League movie as Green Arrow or otherwise, it would be really exciting, but it doesn't have to be a movie. We are doing a--we're working in concert with DC and the better we do, the more successful our show is, the more opportunities we're going to get to perhaps have members of the Justice League on our show."
