Last month, Fox announced that they are shaking things up with its comedy night line up. Glee is moving back to Tuesdays, pushing New Girl and Brooklyn Nine Nine back. However, that could spell trouble for struggling series Dads and The Mindy Project. Could the shows be canceled as a result of the change?
Well it is official, Glee is moving. The Fox hit series is returning to Tuesday night. It was previously reported that the show was thinking about moving all storylines to New York, although this rumor has not been confirmed. It has, however, been confirmed that next season will be the show's last. Show creator Ryan Murphy spoke with reporters about the plans for the show’s finale:
“The final year of the show, which will be next year, was designed around Rachel and Cory/Finn’s story. I always knew that, I always knew how it would end. I knew what the last shot was--he was in it. I knew what the last line was--she said it to him. So when a tragedy like that happens you sort of have to pause and figure out what you want to do, so we’re figuring that out now. I have a good idea. I’m going to tell the studio and the network [in a week] how after Cory’s unfortunate passing we can end the show that I think is very satisfactory. And kind of in his honor, which I love.”
Glee’s big move will push Fox hits Brooklyn Nine Nine and The New Girl back an hour. It will also force struggling sitcoms Dads and The Mindy Project into hiatus. Seth Mcfarlane's Dads was previously given an order for the back nine only to be lowered by three.
The Mindy Project is expected to take a brief hiatus while it reworks the series. This could be the last chance that the show has.
