The brass at Carnegie Hall have announced that Michael Tilson Thomas will step up to the podium for Yannick Nézet-Séguin, leading the Philadelphia Orchestra at Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage this Friday, December 6 at 7:30 p.m.
Nézet-Séguin has canceled several recent European appearances, as well as gigs earlier this week in Philadelphia, on doctors' advice that he not travel due to sinus-related problems.
After all, MTT does know a thing or two about how to treat a bad cough.
More changes are afoot, too.
Superstar pianist Hélène Grimaud is still the soloist for this performance, but at her request, Brahms' Piano Concerto No. 1 will replace the previously announced Piano Concerto No. 2. (Either way, you'll get to hear Grimaud play Brahms...and that's never bad news.)
The second half of the program, featuring Berlioz's mass opiate Symphonie Fantastique, remains as is.
