Brie Larson will grace the West End stage with her debut performance in 2025.
The "Captain Marvel" actress will make her first appearance in the UK premiere of poet Anne Carson's modern interpretation of the timeless Sophocles drama "Elektra," with directorial guidance from Daniel Fish.
Larson told BBC News, "I couldn't be more excited to perform in this Greek drama, or in better company collaborating with Daniel Fish and Anne Carson."
"Storytelling has always been the way I organize life, feelings and experiences. I look forward to sharing space with the wonderful West End audience while we explore this timeless story."
Fish also said in a statement, "What is ancient and what is contemporary? Carson's translation explodes this question."
He continued, "It is a thrilling challenge to work on Sophocles's tragedy, by way of Carson's words, and on the beautiful stage of the Duke of York's with Brie Larson."
According to BroadwayWorld, being haunted by the memory of her father's murder, Elektra is tormented by grief, a relentless desire to survive, and a burning thirst for revenge.
It went on, "When her long lost brother Orestes at last returns, she urges him to a savage and terrifying conclusion but at what cost?"
Brie Larson, who took home several awards in 2016 including SAG Awards, BAFTAs, and Golden Globes, hasn't stepped onto a theater stage in over a decade. Her last performance was as Emily in "Our Town" at the Williamstown Theatre Festival in 2010.
"Elektra" is set to run from January 13 to January 18, 2025, at the Theatre Royal in Brighton.
Following that, it will head to the Duke of York's Theatre in London for an extended 11-week run starting January 24, 2025.
