Launching her latest musical production on Off-Broadway this September 14 is Marla Mindelle, known for her role in the popular Off-Broadway show "Titanique," which she also helped create.

Collaborating with Jonathan Parks-Ramage on the book and Philip Drennen on the score, she will be playing Stacey, who experiences a surreal awakening after a night of partying, finding herself entangled in the whimsical world of an Off-Broadway Golden Age musical.

Stacey found herself in a predicament where she had to utilize her expertise in musical theatre to devise a plan for breaking free from the performance that had become a singing and dancing confinement in front of an audience.

The press release states, "With no memory of how she got there, Stacey is forced to put her BFA in theater to use, belt her face off, and figure out how the hell she's gonna escape this 1940's golden age musical."

Introducing the lineup for the production, Mindelle will be joined by Alex Moffat portraying Keith, Paris Nix embodying Clarence, Constantine Rousouli as Bert and Natalie Walker taking on the role of Flora.

The show benefits from the production expertise of Sue Wagner, John Johnson, and Margot Robbie's company, LuckyChap, who are all involved as producers.

Back in 2019, LuckyChap made headlines with the announcement of a partnership to bring the story to life as a movie musical under Paramount's banner.

Despite the initial buzz, the project has yet to come to fruition. This venture into the theater world marks LuckyChap's inaugural dive into the stage production.

As to how Robbie got involved, Mindelle explained, "10 years ago, I left musical theatre. I wanted absolutely nothing to do with it. And I was like, 'I'm going to go to L.A. and become a writer,' but I failed miserably."

She continued, "But I did sell one movie, 'The Big Gay Jamboree,' and who was attached to produce? Margot Robbie. And I'm proud to say the whole thing fell apart."

"But at the time I was also writing something called 'Titanique.' Turns out, 'Titanique' becomes a wild success. I'm performing as Celine one day and who is in the audience, but Margot Robbie. And then I get an email in my inbox six months later and sure enough it was actual Margot Robbie."

According to Mindelle, the "Barbie" actress' email said,"'Hi Marla, It's Margot Robbie. 'Titanique' was the greatest thing I've ever seen. I've told a million people about it. What else are you working on?'"

She reportedly responded, "'Hey, I'm working on our movie from L.A. Do you want to like, come on board?' And she was like, 'Absolutely! When do you want to do it?' And I was like, 'Tomorrow, I don't have much time left in this business.' And a year later, here we are!"
