"Atlantis," the musical that inspired musician Pharrell Williams, has been officially slated for release by Universal Studios.

Set in 1977, "Atlantis" centers around Atlantis Apartments, the residential community in Virginia Beach where Williams spent his younger years. The plot details remain under wraps, according to Variety.

The screenplay for this project is a collaboration between Martin Hynes, known for his work on "Toy Story 4," and Steven Levenson, the Tony Award-winning writer of "Dear Evan Hansen."

Heading the project is filmmaker Michel Gondry, known for his work on "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" and the Showtime series "Kidding."

Halle Bailey, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Quinta Brunson, Da'Vine Joy Randolph, Missy Elliott, Brian Tyree Henry, Janelle Monáe, Anderson .Paak, Jaboukie Young-White, and Tim Meadows are starring in the upcoming film which will be released on May 9, 2025.

Williams is collaborating with the "La La Land" songwriting team of Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, who serve as executive producers, to create fresh music for the movie in addition to his production duties.

Deadline reported that "Atlantis" is set to debut during a typically peaceful period for new movie premieres.

Studios have traditionally avoided this period to prevent their titles from overshadowing by the latest Marvel Studios release and being overlooked by audiences as they will release "Thunderbolts" the same month.

In collaboration with Williams, Mimi Valdes and Gil Netter are the producers for "Atlantis." At the same time, Matthew Hirsch, Raffi Adlan, Jennie Lee, Shani Saxon, and Michael Mayer are executive producers with Pasek and Paul.
