Launching into a new musical journey in his career, Juicy J is venturing into uncharted territory to evolve his signature Southern rap style that has defined his legacy for two decades.
For his innovative jazz rap album "Ravenite Social Club," Juicy J has enlisted the talents of Cordae and Robert Glasper.
Honoring His Roots
In a nod to his beginnings, he paid homage to his origins by dedicating the song "To You" from his latest album to the influential rap group he helped create and the late Gangsta Boo.
"This song is dedicated to the greatest rap group of all times Three 6 Mafia."
Collaborating with Musical Geniuses
During a recent video shared on social media, Juicy J, whose real name is Jordan Michael Houston, expressed his admiration for the jazz pianist Robert Glasper, with whom he had the pleasure of collaborating on his latest album.
In the video, the rapper praised Glasper's exceptional talent, describing him as a true genius.
"Robert Glasper is a genius, bro. Pure genius, man. I first heard of Robert, he won like R&B Album of the Year."
"I looked up on Apple Music and I just started listening to his music. He got some hard a** music. The man is a genius. Super talented. I was like 'Damn, this n***a jamming."
"I hit him up, we got in the studio, vibed out. We made some dope ass beats. We was working on a lot of different things. We were working on some collab beats for [Megan Thee Stallion] and some other stuff. I felt like it was an experience, not an album."
A Year of Productivity
The "Shell Shocked" rapper has made his mark this year with a steady stream of music releases in a whirlwind of productivity.
One standout surprise was the album "Mental Trillness 2," released unexpectedly in May, reminiscent of the drop of "Ravenite Social Club."
