Broadway slowed down for a moment last week, with ticket sales in the second week of August dropping by approximately 7% compared to the week before.
According to Deadline, the 25 shows made $28,132,262 in revenue during the week of August 18.
Despite the reduced number of shows, last week's attendance figures showed a notable 9% increase compared to the corresponding week in the previous season.
During its final week on Broadway, "The Wiz" had a very successful finale, achieving its highest earnings of $1.95 million and performing to packed houses at over 100% capacity. The production made its Broadway debut on March 29 following a successful nationwide tour, according to Playbill.
Plans are in motion for a North American tour, set to begin in February.
For the second week in a row, "The Wiz" remained in the top five highest-grossing Broadway shows, securing the third spot ahead of "Hamilton" and "Cabaret."
Another highlight last week was "Oh, Mary!"
After being an underground favorite, Cole Escola's quirky comedy has now achieved mainstream success on Broadway. The latest week brought in a record-breaking $1.06 million, setting a new high at the Lyceum Theatre for the second time since July.
In the 13th week of the 2024-25 season, Broadway's total gross has reached $428,075,221, a 7% increase over last year.
