The USTA and ESPN have partnered with Alicia Keys' Broadway production, "Hell's Kitchen," which will feature the musical's soundtrack during the US Open event.
A remix of the song "Kaleidoscope" has been created to celebrate the unique partnership.
According to USOpen, Alicia Keys, award-winning singer-songwriter and producer of "Hell's Kitchen," said in a statement, "We are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with the USTA and ESPN to reach and inspire new audiences through the music of Hell's Kitchen during the 2024 tournament."
A video of the "Kaleidoscope" remix will also debut at the US Open Manifesto Video on August 26 and will be narrated by Kecia Lewis, who also stars in the play.
It has been reported that ESPN is planning to feature the "Kaleidoscope" remix with scenes of bucket drummers across locations in New York City and at Arthur Ashe Stadium. This initiative surely aligns with the tournament's theme, "Spectacular Awaits," and its mission of honoring the impact of tennis.
The USTA aims to establish connections through this collaboration to be able to reach a broader audience and promote the positive impacts of tennis on health.
Starting on August 20, ESPN will launch its promotional initiative across various channels, including digital and social media, and will continue until the end of the tournament. Throughout the US Open broadcasts, viewers can expect to hear the captivating sounds of the "Kaleidoscope" track.
According to Rachel Epstein, the VP of Marketing for ESPN, per Variety, "Collaborating with the USTA and the 'Hell's Kitchen' team to integrate 'Kaleidoscope' into our marketing and broadcasts enables us to celebrate the vibrant atmosphere of the US Open, the high-caliber tennis, and the lively spirit of New York City."
"Hell's Kitchen" made its debut on Broadway in April 2024. Keys has brought the story of Ali to life in the bustling metropolis of New York City. The musical promises an immersive performance, combining new songs and timeless classics from the Grammy winner's repertoire, and aims to connect with its audience through its storytelling and impactful music.
