Christine Baranski, known for her roles in "Mamma Mia!," shared exciting updates about a potential third installment in the beloved musical movie series.
The actress confirmed to the Hollywood Reporter, "I was in London with [producer] Judy Craymer at our favorite watering hole; she is planning 'Mamma Mia 3.' She gave me the narrative plotline of how it's going to happen. That's all I can say! But, it's not like, 'Oh, I wish it could happen!"
She went on, "Judy Craymer makes things happen. She made number two happen, and it was a phenomenal hit. I wouldn't put it past Judy Kramer to get everybody back together."
In response to the magazine's statement that attracting audiences to the theaters would likely be effortless, Baranski expressed how "Mamma Mia!" can bring joy to people's lives. Observing the enthusiastic turnout at Democratic campaign rallies, it was reportedly clear to the Tony award-winning star that there will be a lot of smiles and laughter among the attendees.
"People are drawn to happiness and to joy, not doom and gloom. 'Mamma Mia!' made so many millions of people around the world happy. Is it a little dumb, a little campy? That's part of its charm."
Speculation surrounding a potential third installment of the "Mamma Mia!" franchise has been swirling with excitement, creating a buzz rivaling the energy of Donna and The Dynamos.
Following a recent meeting between the team behind the popular TV show "Mamma Mia! I Have A Dream" and Craymer have dropped hints about new escapades of everybody's favorite characters.
Craymer is committed to bringing "Mamma Mia! 3" to life, she said in October 2023, with the success of the first two movies as a guide.
She told What's on Stage at the time, "There's a lot of ideas for another film, Mamma Mia! has earned that in the sense of it is so loved. The bar gets raised after each one, and the actors just love doing it. Story-wise, there's definitely a trilogy there."
Meanwhile, as the stage production of "Mamma Mia!" in London's West End continues to thrive, marking its 25th anniversary with great success, its allure remains as appealing as ever.
