Tony Winner LaChanze to Headline Exclusive One-Night NYC Concert Supporting Iconic Cabaret Venue

An exciting debut of Tony award-winning performer LaChanze at 54 Below is happening on September 15.

The one-night-only concert will support the iconic cabaret venue and exhibit a mix of LaChanze's iconic roles, beloved Broadway songs, classic songbook favorites, according to Playbill.

The performance is scheduled to begin at 8 PM.

LaChanze, whose real name is LaChanze Sapp-Gooding, has left a permanent mark on Broadway with many roles, from her unforgettable portrayal of Ti Moune in "Once on This Island" to her powerful performance as Celie in "The Color Purple," which garnered her a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical.

The 62-year-old performer's awards extend beyond her performances on stage, LaChanze has been honored with another Tony Award for her work as a producer in Broadway productions.

Other 54 Below Events This Summer

Meanwhile, 54 Below will also welcome Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp again this summer. The original actors brought the characters of Roger and Mark to life in the Tony award-winning musical, "Rent."

The upcoming concert event, "Celebrating Friendship & History," promises a memorable evening filled with music and nostalgia.

The duo is set to retake the stage from August 6-10 and August 13-17 at 7 PM after their successful January performances.

54 Below has also announced that the August 17 show will be broadcast live as part of the popular Live at 54 Below series, allowing fans who cannot attend in person to join the event virtually.

Guests will be treated to many songs from the actors' past works, songs that hold personal significance to them, and a few songs from Jonathan Larson's award-winning musical "Rent."
