Netflix’s ‘Daredevil’ Series and ‘Sin City’ TV Show Sees Small Screen Superheroes [UPDATE]

Comic book movies have taken over the box office, and now they are moving in on the small screen. Hit series such as DC’s Arrow and Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. have already made their marks in the TV world. Now Marvel is getting into the streaming game with a Hell’s Kitchen series of shows on Netflix, featuring Daredevil. Sin City might also be getting the TV treatment following the upcoming Sin City 2: A Dame to Kill For.

Last month, it was announced that Netflix will produce four live action Marvel series and one mini-series. The projects will focus on Marvel’s Hell's Kitchen heroes: Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage. The mini-series will be based around the team-up group, The Defenders.

Alan Fine, Marvel’s Entertainment president, first announced the deal via a press statement:

"This deal is unparalleled in its scope and size, and reinforces our commitment to deliver Marvel's brand, content and characters across all platforms of storytelling. Netflix offers an incredible platform for the kind of rich storytelling that is Marvel’s specialty. This serialized epic expands the narrative possibilities of on-demand television and gives fans the flexibility to immerse themselves how and when they want in what's sure to be a thrilling and engaging adventure."

Ted Sarandos, Netflix’s Chief Content Officer, added:

"Marvel’s movies, such as Iron Man and Marvel’s The Avengers, are huge favorites on our service around the world. Like Disney, Marvel is a known and loved brand that travels. With 'House of Cards' and our other original series, we have pioneered new approaches to storytelling and to global distribution and we're thrilled to be working with Disney and Marvel to take our brand of television to new levels with a creative project of this magnitude."

Meanwhile, it has been reported that a Sin City TV series is in talks. The Weinstein Company is behind the project and the series is expected to follow 2014’s Sin City 2: A Dame to Kill For. Sin City creator, Frank Miller, and movie director Robert Rodriguez are both reported to be involved.
