According to multiple reports, Rachel Bloom's one-woman musical comedy 'Death, Let Me Do My Show' is heading from off-Broadway to Netflix.
'Death, Let Me Do My Show,' which recently played Off-Broadway at the Orpheum Theatre, is currently running a limited engagement at the Williamstown Theatre Festival through Sunday, July 14. The performances from Friday, July 12, and Saturday, 13, are being recorded for Netflix, which will premiere the special sometime this fall.
The production, directed by Seth Barrish, is described as a one-woman musical comedy that has nothing to do with the constant fear of death. It is filled with raunchy and escapist content that will not examine the pandemic and all the turbulent events that followed in her personal life.
Bloom recently performed the show at the Los Angeles 'Netflix Is a Joke Festival' in early May.
An actress, comedian, and writer, Bloom is best known for co-producing and starring in the critically acclaimed musical comedy series 'Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.' She won a Critics' Choice Television Award, an Emmy, a Golden Globe, and a Gotham Award for her work on the show during its four seasons on The CW.
The production centers on Rebecca Bunch, a powerful New York lawyer who recklessly gives up her successful career after meeting her first love by chance. She moves to West Covina, California, believing that rekindling their romance will bring her true happiness. As she gets used to her new life, she deals with mental health issues, forges new relationships, including a close bond with her quirky co-workers, and navigates humorous and poignant situations.
Furthermore, Bloom has also appeared in series, including Max's 'Julia,' Hulu's 'Reboot,' and Paramount+'s revival of 'Frasier.' She had previously written for Robot Chicken, an adult cartoon series on 'Adult Swim.'
