BAFTA Award-winning actress Anne-Marie Duff will star in a new staging of Lillian Hellman's 'The Little Foxes,' directed by Olivier Award-winning director Lyndsey Turner. She will make her stage debut at the Young Vic Theatre for the first time in 17 years.
The production will run in the Main House from Monday, Dec. 2 to Saturday, Feb. 8, with opening night for the press on Wednesday, Dec. 11.
Turner's staging will include scenic and costume design by Lizzie Clachan, lighting design by Lucy Carter, sound design by Tingying Dong, and fight direction by Kev McCurdy. Further casting by Jess Ronane is to be announced.
'The Little Foxes' is a drama in a small town in Alabama in the early 20th century. It was first performed in 1939.
The story focuses on Regina Giddens, a Southern woman with a greedy appetite for wealth and power as possible, even if it means blackmailing her brothers.
A film adaptation of 'The Little Foxes,' which Hellman adapted for the screen herself, was released in 1941 and starred Bette Davis.
Duff said, "The Little Foxes is a formidable play by a formidable writer - I couldn't put it down. It's a searing drama about corruption, betrayal, and the relentless pursuit of power. At the heart of it is Regina, a charismatic yet ruthless character who, when the reins are unleashed, goes full force to take matters into her own hands."
She continued to express her joy in returning to the Young Vic stage and bringing Hellman's classic play to life with the brilliant Turner.
Recently, Duff played Erin Wiley in 'Sex Education' and portrayed public health director Tracy Daszkiewicz in 'The Salisbury Poisonings.'
The actress took home the Best Supporting Actress Bafta last year for her role as Grace in Sharon Horgan's hit drama 'Bad Sisters.'
Furthermore, Duff has appeared in films, including 'Notes on a Scandal,' 'On Chesil Beach,' and 'Before I Go To Sleep.' She has also previously performed at the Young Vic in productions of 'The Daughter in Law' and 'The Soldier's Fortune.'
