The original Broadway cast recording of 'The Heart of Rock and Roll,' the Huey Lewis and the News-scored musical romcom, will be released on Friday, June 14.
The album, which will be accessible on all streaming sites, features musically theaterized renditions of timeless '80s favorites like 'The Power of Love,' 'Hip to Be Square,' 'Workin' For A Livin',' 'Stuck With You,' and 'If This Is It.'
The album features vocal performances from the stars of the show, including Corey Cott, Kenzie Kurtz, Josh Breckenridge, F. Michael Haynie, Zoe Jensen, Tamika Lawrence, Raymond J. Lee, John-Michael Lyles, Orville Mendoza, Billy Harrigan Tighe, and John Dossett.
The cast members also include Michael Olaribigbe, Kevin Pariseau, Robert Pendilla, Lindsay Joan, Ross Lekites, Robin Masella, Kara Menendez, Joe Moeller, Jennifer Noble, Fredric Rodriguez Odgaard, Michael Olaribigbe, and Joshua Read.
Will Van Dyke provided music direction for 'The Heart of Rock and Roll,' while Brian Usifer handled the orchestrations, arrangements, and music supervision.
'The Heart of Rock and Roll' band includes Vivi Rama, Jeff Roberts, John Scarpulla, Will Van Dyke, Gina Benalcazar, Ravi Best, and Matt Deitchman. The associate music coordinator is Anja Wood, while the music coordinator is Michael Aarons.
Furthermore, Huey Lewis, Usifer, and Van Dyke are the record's producers. Derik Lee and executive producers Hunter Arnold, Tyler Mitchell, and Kayla Greenspan will handle the mixing and engineering. Oscar Zambrano masters the album.
The show started the Broadway run of the production at the James Earl Jones Theatre on Friday, March 29, with an official opening on Monday, April 22. Gordon Greenberg directed the work, written by Jonathan A. Abrams and based on a story by Abrams and Tyler Mitchell.
