Sting Resurrects Police, Solo Tracks to Open 3.0 Tour

Sting's 3.0 tour kicked off last May 25, featuring songs by his former band, the Police, and his own solo tracks. Many were unperformed for years: the event opened with the Police favorite, "Voices Inside My Head," which the musician had not played since 2006.

The former Police frontman tours with longtime collaborator guitarist Dominic Miller, and drummer Chris Maas formerly of Mumford & Sons. The first concert happened at the Musikfestspiele in Dresden.

Following "Voices Inside My Head" was "Message in a Bottle," then "Synchronicity II," which Sting performed for the first time since 2018. Also featured was "Tea in the Sahara," last played in 2017.

Among Sting's solos were "Never Coming Home," never played since 2012, and "When the Angels Fall," making its first appearance since 1992-a shocking 32 years ago. Also on the setlist were popular Police classics, such as "Walking on the Moon," "Every Breath You Take" and "Roxanne." In total, concertgoers heard 22 tracks-10 from the Police, and 12 solo ones.

A fan recorded the concert on video, which can be viewed here.

Sting, Miller and Maas will continue their Sting 3.0 European tour until early August. The following month, they will bring the tour to the United States, where they will perform in more intimate venues such as The Wiltern in Los Angeles. At the same time, Sting will co-headline concerts with Billy Joel.
