Dubai Announces Luxurious Floating Opera House

Dubai's second opera house following the Dubai Opera in Downtown Dubai's Opera District, the Azizi Venice Opera House will have a seating capacity of 2000 guests, and is planned to cater to concerts, ballets, operas and other cultural performances, as well as private events such as weddings.

It will also open an Opera House Museum, where guests can learn about the construction and history of the building. The construction of the "floating masterpiece," as it has been described by Azizi Development, will cost an estimated 30 billion dirhams, or $8 billion.

The opera house is part of Dubai's effort to transform the city into a hub of culture and art, and is but one of the many lavish structures in Azizi Venice, which is set to evolve into an opulent boulevard, hosting "top retailers, nightlife and entertainment options, and a variety of eateries," with water features, such as dancing fountains, and shaded seating.

Once completed, the Azizi Venice Opera House will join the short list of floating opera venues, which includes the famous Sydney Opera House, the floating stage at the Bergenzer Festspiele, and the proposed floating opera house in Hanoi. No official opening date has yet been announced, but it is expected to be completed between 2025 and 2028.
