Today, Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Aloe Blacc announces his latest project: "Rock My Soul Volume 1," the first half of a two-part EP series that sees the R&B artist taking on his own renditions of iconic songs and infusing them with a soulful twist.
About Aloe Blacc's 'Rock My Soul Volume 1'
The five-track collection showcases Blacc's A-tier ability to reimagine the soundscapes of beloved classics in a way that honors the original while also breathing a new distinguishable life into it.
Volume 1 will feature an intricately curated selection of seminal tracks, which includes: No Doubt's "Don't Speak," Nirvana's "Lithium," Red Hot Chili Peppers' "Under The Bridge," Green Day's "When I Come Around," and Soundgarden's "Black Hole Sun."
"I've always been drawn to the emotional depth and powerful messages in these songs," shared Blacc. "With 'Rock My Soul,' I wanted to honor the originals while also bringing my own perspective to the music. I can't wait for everyone to hear it."
Blacc will be leading with the release of his cover for the lattermost, kicking off a routine drop that will unveil one song every Tuesday in line with his #TakeMeBackTuesday campaign.
The pop-soul maestro offers his fans a nostalgic opportunity to revisit the legendary tracks in a new jazzier light and go down the major blips of music across history, starting with Blacc's "Black Hole Sun" rendition.
This particular project is only the beginning of Blacc's big musical swings this year, with new music releases awaiting his fans, alongside other things.
For one, earlier this year, he released his collaborative single with the Aurora Humanitarian Initiative: "Shine," to passionately advocate for social justice and community empowerment, premiering it at the 2024 Prize ceremony at UCLA.
Chaired by Dr. Noubar Afeyan and co-hosted by Dr. Eric Esrailian, the event celebrated the remarkable efforts of humanitarians worldwide.
