Last Monday, May 13, Bright Light Bright Light joined forces with Grammy-nominated Broadway star Mykal Kilgore to serve up some arcade realness in the official music video of their recent collaboration: "Heartslap," bringing to the foray some deliciously retro queer vibes.
This particular single is an advanced release from BLBL's forthcoming record: "Enjoy Youth," which will soon arrive this week on Friday, May 17 via YSKWN!/Megaforce Records.
About the 'Heartslap' Official Music Video
The video sees both BLBL and Kilgore go through an '80s nerdcore "training session" inside a neon color video game, evoking the unbridled energy of a total geek explosion.
"Tyler Milliron (the director) is an absolute genius," shared the artist. "He totally gets my vision for my album, and immediately got all of the references Mykal and I brought to the planning meeting."
"The world he's created is just so spectacular and it's absolutely my favourite video of my career to date! I'm so thrilled that this song exists in my repertoire and I am so happy to have had the MOST FUN creating this with two brilliant people, Tyler and Mykal," he continued.
Kilgore echoed BLBL's enthusiasm in the recently released MV, saying, "First of all, Rod involved me in almost every decision in the making of the video so I feel extremely invested in it."
"Second, the amount of fun that I had on set with Rod and the rest of the team made it impossible for this video to be anything but a party! You see the material! This video is amazing!"
The Broadway star is only one of the famed names BLBL has featured in tracks of his forthcoming "Enjoy Youth" album, alongside appearances from the likes of dance legend Ultra Naté, Sam Harper, "Sunshine After The Rain" singer Berri, and Beth Hirsch.
