Last Wednesday, May 1, the Naomi Judd Estate released "Artist," the first addition to a series of virtual exhibits showcasing rare and previously unseen artifacts from the life of the legendary, Grammy-winning American cultural icon, activist, and philanthropist.
A collaborative project between the artist's estate, Definitive Authentic, and Mercy Community Healthcare, the new exhibition's unveiling also marks the second anniversary of The Judds' induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
About the Naomi Judd Estate's New Virtual Exhibit: "Artist"
The collection comprises an intimate look at Judd's career and life through behind-the-scenes photos, awards, a personal stage map with handwritten notes, a shooting script for the "Grandpa" music video, countless well-wishes from country music luminaries, and more.
It frames the icon under a more accurate lens as a widely beloved musician and a groundbreaking visionary whose lifelong support of numerous philanthropic causes impacted the lives of many.
Paying tribute to her benevolent spirit, the "Artist" exhibit (and also preceding additions to the series) will be donating a portion of its proceeds to The Naomi Judd Mental Health Clinic: A Bridge to Hope, a new specialized wing at Franklin, TN's Mercy Community Healthcare.
It was first revealed last April 16 and was notably previewed by the likes of Billboard, American Songwriter, and People Magazine, who described the virtual show as a new way for the late Judd's fans to connect with her in an "all-new way."
The singer's daughter and The Judds partner Wynonna commented about the collection, saying, "Mom was always the family historian. She had over a hundred scrapbooks and photo albums organized by decade, year, [and] month."
"She was so proud of her collection," she continued. "I am thrilled to be able to share her personal and professional archives to give Judd fans a glimpse into her life and who she was, and to continue to honor the legacy of Naomi Judd."
Similarly, Ashley also spoke about her mother's new exhibition: "What a sweet and meaningful opportunity to connect with Mom, to share with our family what mattered to her. She was a great one to squirrel away pieces that were endowed with story."
"Now," she added, "together, we can hear from her, and remember for ourselves where we were when these things were unfolding in our own lives, learn more about her internal life, and connect with the special woman she was."
