City Parks Foundation finally announced the much-awaited performance lineup for the 2024 iteration of New York City's highly acclaimed and beloved music festival, SummerStage. In light of this, a wave of major star power is about to come crashing down in Central Park.
In the foundation's press release for the event, Executive Director Heather Lubov was quoted saying: "SummerStage is back for another incredible season of free performances."
"It's always an honor to bring a lineup of both established and rising artists that celebrate the rich cultural fabric of our neighborhoods across the city to parks, all for free," she continued.

Kicking off on June 1, the season will open with a free admission performance from the Grammy-winning and Oscar-nominated soul and R&B singer Andra Day at the city's iconic park, held in association with the Blue Note Jazz Festival.
Other featured artists include the Counting Crows, The Saw Doctors, Corinne Bailey Rae, KES, Pride Disco with Trixie Matell, Amanda Lepore, Jess King, and performers from the Metropolitan Opera, among many others.
All in all, this year's festival will host 85 shows across the 13 neighborhoods of NYC's five boroughs, bringing an incredible selection of music and artistry to all of the covered communities.
Although most shows are free, some performances will require a ticket in support of the Foundation and the festival and will be labeled as benefits.
The women-run festival, now in its 38th year, is continuing to champion diversity through the varied global artists it showcases annually in the city. As per the press release, SummerStage is slated to spotlight acclaimed performers from differing genres like jazz, hip-hop, indie, salsa, opera, soul, and rock.
Every summer, the festival boasts an attendee turnout of over 200,000 since its inaugural iteration about four decades ago, collectively pooling up to an amazing seven million spectators overall.
