Gearing up for Brazilian Funk's world domination through her upcoming "The Baile Funk Experience Tour," Grammy-nominated global pop icon Anitta releases another music industry bombshell with the arrival of her much-awaited new album: "Funk Generation."
Out today on all major platforms via Republic Records/Universal Music Latin Entertainment/Universal Music Canada, Anitta's latest offering sees her at the forefront of bringing her nation's bombastic beats to a new generation around the world.
About Anitta's 'Funk Generation'
"Funk Generation" is composed of Anitta's recent worldwide bangers like "Grip", "Fria", and "Ahi," which features Grammy-winning UK pop artist Sam Smith.
The cosmopolitan pop star said of the record: "Funk Generation embodies every nuance of this 100% Brazilian musical genre that has shaped my journey as both a person and an artist."
"Funk is ingrained in the culture of those who live in Brazilian favelas, where I come from, and has often been unfairly judged as lacking artistic value, even associated with organized crime," she adds. "It reflects the classism and racism that haunt our society."
She continued by saying that her new project is an extension of her embracing the "rhythm [that] emerged from the favelas and conquered Brazil," signifying her intention to create an "international funk album."
"I made sure to collaborate with renowned Brazilian funk producers. Together, we've crafted something you can enjoy, dance to, and sing along with," Anitta concludes.
The new record comes on the heels of a series of buzzed-about performances like in last night's Latin American Music Awards, where she performed "Double Team" and "Sabana," and a surprise performance at Coachella last Friday, April 19, when she joined Peso Pluma on stage to perform "BELLAKEO."
