Los Angeles-based indie-pop singer-songwriter Clara Lars shares her new song: "Nobody's Tired" today, April 19, alongside an accompanying official music video release directed by Mark Myers (Fun., Lorde, and Ed Sheeran).
The single was first premiered in The Honey Pop magazine, which raved about the new bop and how it "makes you feel lighter as you listen" despite also tackling how life can be too much at times through Lars' clever but not overindulgent lyricism.
About 'Nobody's Tired,' an Indie-Pop Joint by Clara Lars
Musically, the song starts sparsely with a droning synth bed only playing a single note and a gentle bass riff lurking behind before suddenly pouncing in the chorus alongside an assault of triplet closed high-hat hits.
The sudden rise of energy exemplifies the message Lars is trying to convey regarding the overwhelming feeling of frenzy, contrasted by an expressed desire to escape, as she sings: "Talk to my fears like a friend / Sell them for money and buy an island."
In a statement to the magazine, Lars said: "I wrote 'Nobody's Tired' about feeling overwhelmed. I was reading Henry David Thoreau, and he talks a lot about moving to the woods and living off the land; 'Nobody's Tired' is about wanting to move to an island."
"I thought," she continued, "'there's so much work, I'm tired of city life, what if I just moved to an island and ditched everything and everyone.'"
"Nobody's Tired" marks Lars' second collaboration with Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Beach House producer Chris Coady, following up on the artist's similarly co-produced breakout EP: "Illusions" (2022).
This particular record saw three of its tracks, specifically "Don't Leave," "Addicted," and "Hero," earn their way onto Spotify editorial playlists like "New Music Friday," "Fresh Finds," "Fresh Finds Pop," and "Life Sucks."
Additionally, "Hero" landed Lars an opportunity to be featured on the cover of Spotify's "Fresh Finds Pop" playlist.
