Peter Dinklage Revealed to be Joining the Cast of the 2-Part ‘Wicked’ Film Adaptation as Dr. Dillamond

The film adaptation of "Wicked" has finally revealed the goat. Well, the actor that will play its famed goat character Dr. Dillamond, at least.

As per The Hollywood Reporter, in CinemaCon last Wednesday, April 10, it was announced that Emmy-winning "Game of Thrones" mainstay vet Peter Dinklage will play the hoofed Shiz University professor in the upcoming 2-part film series.

Updates on the 'Wicked' Cast and Other Information

This recent cast revelation answers many of the questions that the upcoming adaptation's teaser trailer has raised, specifically of which was the exclusion of Dr. Dillamond, Elphaba's benevolent teacher who notified her of "something bad" that is about to happen in Oz.

However, Dinklage does not embody the character using the approach that the stage counterpart of the adaptation employed, which is by performing the goat professor live through prosthetics. Rather, he is set to voice a CG version of the mentor instead.

Dinklage's singing background, particularly as seen in the 2019 Off-Broadway musical iteration of the "Cyrano" production, helps build confidence that the actor will nail his rendition of the musical number: "Something Bad."

Also starring in the "Wicked" movie, which is set to hit cinemas on Nov. 27, are Tony-winning actress Cynthia Erivo as Elpha and pop icon and Broadway alum Ariana Grande as Glinda.

Olivier-winning actor from West End's "Company" musical, Jonathan Bailey, who also starred in "Bridgerton," will also join the other stage stars as Fiyero in the "Wicked" film, alongside "SpongeBob SquarePants" headliner Ethan Slater as Boq.

Other cast members include Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh as Madam Morrible, Jeff Goldblum as The Wizard, and up-and-comer Marissa Bode as Nessarose, the first wheelchair-using actor to take up the role in the musical's expansive history.

Stage and screen actress Keala Settle, Bowen Yang from SNL, Bronwyn James, Aaron Teoh, and Colin Michael Carmichael, on the other hand, will play newly introduced characters that are film version-only.

This includes Settle as Miss Coddle, Carmichael as Professor Nikidik, and Yang, James, and Teoh as Shiz students Pfannee, ShenShen, and Avaric.

The 2-part film adaptation will also include new musical numbers written by Stephen Schwartz himself and will be steered by the "In the Heights" movie director Jon M. Chu.

Winnie Holzman, the book writer for the "Wicked" stage musical, penned the screenplay, while Tony winner Paul Tazewell is in charge of designing the costumes.

The 2nd part of the series is slated to be out on Nov. 26. For more information, visit the official website for the upcoming film adaptation: https://www.wickedmovie.com/.
