Acclaimed, Philadelphia-based rock and roll band Low Cut Connie and WXPN station announce the new weekly radio show "The Connie Club," which will be hosted by band frontman Adam Weiner.
It will start exclusively airing on the usual WXPN frequency and XPN.org, the radio station's online platform, starting on June 1 at 5:00 PM EST.
The freewheeling show will run for 10 weeks across the Summer, alongside a series of "Connie Club Live" tapings on June 13, July 11, and Aug. 8 at the Ardmore Music Hall in Ardmore, Pennsylvania.
The finite live tapings feature Low Cut Connie performances alongside appearances of special guests hailing from various industries and worlds like music, sports, and even comedy. Tickets for the limited shows will go on sale this Friday, April 12.
The Connie Club Radio Show Starring Adam Weiner
Wiener's upcoming radio show is a follow-up to the singer's successful Tough Cookies live-stream series of shows and is a spin on vintage freeform FM radio broadcasts of the 1960s and '70s.
Thus, "The Connie Club" will be melding mainstay elements of retro radio shows like vinyl records, interviews, and spontaneous live performances with contemporary sensibilities like comedy and audience participation.
"We are gonna heat up the airwaves all summer," said Weiner. "We could all afford to let loose and blow off some steam this summer, and I aim to have The Connie Club be a sonic place where we can all do just that."
"These live events are gonna be a smash," he continued. "Low Cut Connie will be the house band for a bunch of killer special guests including legendary musicians, comedians, and athletes. It's gonna be wild and loose and good for the soul."
Currently, the band is in the midst of their US tour in support of their critically acclaimed 2023 album: "ART DEALERS." The tour itself comprises stops like San Francisco, Los Angeles, Austin, New Orleans, and others. View the full tour list by clicking here.
Weiner also premiered the feature documentary and concert film revolving around the creation process for "ART DEALERS" last year at the Richmond International Film Festival, where it bagged the 2023 Artistic Vision Award.
