Universal Music Publishing Scandinavia announced last Tuesday, April 2, the signing of an exclusive global agreement with the recently established publishing division of Steve Angello's label SIZE Music.
The deal will see both companies focusing resources on taking the electronic music scene to the next level, alongside strengthening SIZE's role of uncovering and nurturing new talents and the would-be music they'll release.
New Opportunities for UMPG Scandinavia and SIZE Music
Established by Angello, who is an acclaimed DJ and producer, SIZE Music came into existence in 2003 and has since developed a reputation in the industry as one of the most influential and iconic dance labels of the 21st century, by far.
The label started its path to legend with its debut project, Angello's own single: "Dirty Pleasure," before moving on to releasing some of the most recognizable electronic dance songs of recent times.
This includes early works by Avicci, Angello's "Knas," "Tivoli," and "Valodja," in addition to Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman & Steve Angello's "Payback," among others.
Recently, Angello has added a new project to his label's roster, a single entitled "ME," and this month, he is slated to return to Coachella's rave-ridden desert for a solo set as a headlining act.
"Having worked with Jonas Wikström at UMPG Scandinavia for over twenty years, he's always been a part of my wider music journey," said the SIZE founder. "As we focus on building out our SIZE family, collaborating with Universal Music Publishing felt like the natural next step."
He added that the new partnership is not all about "growth," as they are now looking to "enrich" and "expand" industry opportunities for his music label's roster of talents, saying, "It's a move towards a vibrant and dynamic future, and I'm excited about the possibilities and new directions it will open up for us."
Similarly, UMPG Scandinavia's Managing Director Jonas Wikström echoed Angello's enthusiasm and said: "I'm very excited that we, over twenty years into our relationship, are joining forces."
"I look forward to seeing our respective teams create opportunities for the great music represented by SIZE," he continued.
