The new Broadway adaptation of Anton Chekhov's famed 1897 stage play, "Uncle Vanya," has delayed its first preview that was originally slated for this Tuesday, April 2, at the Lincoln Center Theater's Vivian Beaumont Theater.
Now, the preview is scheduled for Wednesday, April 3. On the other hand, the production's opening night is still scheduled for April 24 and will run through June 16.
Tickets sold for the April 2 previews will reportedly be refunded according to Playbill, or exchanged at the point of purchase if applicable.
About the New Broadway Adaptation of 'Uncle Vanya'
Helming the upcoming Broadway show is "Appropriate" director Lila Neugebauer, who will also execute new translations written by Tony-nominated playwright Heidi Shreck.
Taking on the titular role as part of his Broadway debut is television and film icon Steve Carell. Acting opposite "The Office" star is Tony-nominated "Three Tall Women" actress Alison Pill, who will play Vanya's niece Sonya.
Joining the two members of the main cast are Emmy-nominated "The Good Place" actor William Jackson Harper as Astrow, Tony winner Jayne Houdyshell as Mama Voinitski, Mia Katigbak as Marina, three-time Tony-nominated "Red" actor Alfred Molina as Alexander Serabryakov, Tony-winning "Caroline" actor Anika Noni Rose as Yelena, "Gypsy" actor Jonathan Hadary as Waffles, and "The King & I" actor as Yefim.
As for the creative team, the production will feature set design by Mimi Lien, costume design by Kaye Voyce, lighting design by Lap Chi Chu and Elizabeth Harper, and sound design by Mikhail Fiksel and Beth Lake. Charles M. Turner III will be acting as stage manager.
