Robby Hecht Goes Under the Introspective Needle With New Single ‘Tattoos’ and Releases Its Music Video

Nashville-based singer-songwriter Robby Hecht has recently shared his new single "Tattoos" off of his forthcoming LP to be released on April 12 via Tone Tree Music, "Not a Number," alongside a wholesome music video for the new song featuring his "inked" friends.

Behind Robby Hecht's 'Tattoos'

As the title suggests, Hecht channels his Tom Waits-like songwriting chops to highlight the act of immortalizing symbols on human skin in his new single and how these markings carry on individual and unique stories.

Hecht muses that he himself has "tattoos," albeit invisible ones, representing his own experiences and pain he accrued throughout his life.

"I have somehow made it into my 40s without ever getting a tattoo," said the musician, "but I love hearing the stories behind other people's."

"They are catalysts for conversations and offer glimpses into personal narratives," he continued. "I was going through my divorce, trying various paths to recovery, and I realized that we all carry internal tattoos that frequently reveal themselves, whether through unconscious action, discussion, music, or ink."

The MV, which is available to watch below, features the "stories" he mentioned engraved on his cherished friends, like Matt The Electrician, The Wild Ponies, Crys Matthews, and Kyshona, among others.

"Tattoos" is Hecht's follow-up to his previous single, "Someone to Dance With," which Chorus FM said is incorporated with the singer's "warm delivery" and targets "all the right heartstrings" to evoke a sense of affectionate longing.

On 'Not a Number,' Robby Hecht's Highly-Anticipated Album

"Tattoos" is only one of the twelve introspective tracks in Hecht's forthcoming LP, with the other tracks also boasting a unique perspective on themes like divorce, emotional recovery, nostalgia, and the unity of humanity.

That said, the profound significance of individual experiences is perhaps the core of Hecht's new project, with the artist primarily aiming to interweave his own stories with the narratives of others and create deeply resonating music.

This main message is complemented by "Not a Number" producer Anthony da Costa, who is also a veteran singer-songwriter and highly acclaimed guitarist, alongside Nashville features like Caroline Spence, Katie Pruitt, Lydia Luce, The Sea The Sea, Ruth Moody, and Trousdale.

Hecht's new record is a product of his over two-decade-long career that was propped up by his insightful lyricism and "kind-sounding" vocal performances akin to that of James Taylor's.

Beyond the pop-folk musician's talents, he is also an advocate of mental health awareness. In the past, he has even openly discussed his own challenges with bipolar disorder and how to break the stigma regarding the disease.
