Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss' multi-award-winning musical from London's West End, "SIX," is coming to Manila, Philippines on a limited run at Solaire Resorts' The Theatre from Oct. 1 to 20, according to a report by Broadway World.
The brief transfer will be produced by Kenny Wax, Wendy & Andy Barnes, and George Stiles, in collaboration with local theatre presenter, GMG Productions.
Of the forthcoming Manila stint, GMG Productions CEO Carlos Candal said: "Bringing SIX The Musical to Manila is a momentous occasion."
"This is not just a show but an experience that celebrates the strength and resilience of women in a way that is both entertaining and empowering," he continued.
What is the 'SIX The Musical' About?
The modern-pop-inspired production centers its story around the six Tudor queens and wives of the famed benevolent monarch-turned-tyrant King Henry VIII, who is most known for his frequent spats with the church.
According to GMG Productions' release on the limited transfer, the musical sees "Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anna of Cleves, Katherine Howard, and Catherine Parr, each telling their own story and reclaiming their own narrative."
Through its 21st-century "girl power" spin on the otherwise tragic historical stories of King Henry VII's wives, "SIX The Musical" has earned over 35 awards in various prestigious awarding bodies, including in the 2022 Tony Awards where it won Best Original Score and in the Outer Critics Circle Awards where it won Best Musical.
Commercially, the musical has also achieved great success since its inaugural pre-West End run in 2017 with more than 3.5 million theatergoers enjoying the production across the world every year.
Before the Philippines, "SIX" has also toured the US, Canada, Australia, and even South Korea. In addition, this weekend marks the 1,000th performance of the musical's Broadway production.
It has also seen success beyond the stages as its 2022 Broadway cast album debuted at the No. 1 spot in Billboard's Cast Album charts before it proceeded to surpass the six million mark in streams during its first month of being released.
Since then, this particular album has been streamed over 66 million collective times and has received a Grammy nod for Best Musical Theater Album.
The ticket sale for the "Six Musical" show at Solaire's The Theatre will go public starting April 19 through TicketWorld.com.ph.
That said, the production's pre-sale partner, UnionBank, will be offering early access tickets from April 15 to 17. If you're interested, you can join the waitlist by clicking here.
