Two-Time ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Winner Jinkx Monsoon is Set to Play Audrey in Off-Broadway’s ‘Little Shop of Horrors’

Two-time winner of "RuPaul's Drag Race," Jinkx Monsoon, is on her way back to New York's stage a year after her Broadway debut in the 2023 run of "Chicago" as Matron "Mama" Morton, which gave her a plaudits-filled first run at the Ambassador Theatre.

This time, she will be joining the cast of the off-Broadway revival of "Little Shop of Horrors," where she will play Audrey starting on April 2. Her forthcoming appearance in the major Howard Ashman and Alan Menken musical production marks the first time a drag performer does so in the history of the IP.

Cast and Other Info on the 'Little Shop of Horrors' Off-Broadway Revival

Performing opposite Monsoon's Audrey is Corbin Bleu, who will be reprising his role as Seymour that he filled during the musical's run with Constance Wu last year, alongside James Carpinello as Orin Scrivello.

In a statement quoted by Broadway World, Monsoon said: "'Little Shop of Horrors' was my favorite movie musical as a kid but Audrey is a role I considered out of the realm of possibility for me."

To get to play her in this incredible production is terribly exciting," she added. "As a drag queen who grew up watching the iconic Ellen Greene performance, I'm thrilled and honored to get to bring Audrey to life in a whole new way that also pays homage to her memorable origins."

Monsoon, Bleu, and Carpinello will be taking over the current posts of "Little Shop of Horrors" stars Evan Rachel Wood, Darren Criss, and Bryce Pinkham, all of whom will be enjoying a final bow on March 31.

The current cast members of the musical reval comprise Tony-nominated "Mr. Saturday Night" actor Stephen Derosa as Mr. Mushnik, Aaron Arnell Harrington as The Voice of Audrey II, and Tiffany Renee Thompson as Ronnette.

In addition, the cast will also include Morgan Ashley Bryant as Crystal, Khadija Sankoh as Chiffon, as well as Camryn Hampton, Michael Iannucci, Weston Chandler Long, Jeff Sears, Teddy Yudain, Zakiya Baptiste, Noel MacNeal, and Johnny Newcomb.

The direction will come from Tony winner Michael Mayer, who helmed the revival since its inaugural opening in October 2019 before briefly closing in March 2020 due to the global pandemic and finally re-opening on Sept. 21, 2021.

Live Wire Theatrical's Chris Aniello will supervise the production's general management, alongside production stage manager Sara Sahin.
