Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy has everyone talking. From the newly buff Chris Pratt to Bradley Cooper's Rocket Raccoon, the rag-tag team of heroes are really making names for themselves. Most recently, The Hobbit 2’s Lee Pace opened up about his role as the villain, Ronan, in the new film.
The film’s villain, Lee Pace, compared his role in GOTG to his part in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, telling SciFiNow:
“The characters couldn’t be more different! I remember walking on set [of Guardians of the Galaxy], and I was like ‘Very un-elfy, right guys?’ [Ronan] is a real psychopathic beast. I’m having the best time playing it. I kept looking over at James Gunn when we were shooting, ‘Too much? Should I pull back?’ He’s like ‘No, more, go for it!”
Meanwhile, the film’s hero, Chris Pratt, has been sharing his excitement about the new movie. Pratt told Yahoo Movies that he didn’t even need to see a script before signing on:
"Just the fact that [Star-Lord] was part of the Marvel brand was really exciting. I was signed up to do the movie before I was even allowed to read a script, so it wasn't like something about this particular character that got me to do it. The fact that it was a Marvel movie is what got me to do it".
However, the real star of the show is Bradley Cooper’s Rocket Racoon. Pratt recently spoke with Screen Crush about the gun-toting critter:
"You think it’s a cartoon character, but it’s not, it’s a very real creature. [Rocket Raccoon has been] tortured his whole life and no one else likes him, so he’s lonely and he’s angry and it’s like, [there are] all these elements [to the character]. You sort of forget about that, you wouldn’t think about, [and] hopefully will come to life. I think it will and that’s why they hired a really good actor to do the role. I could not be more excited that Bradley Cooper is voicing Rocket Raccoon. It’s a great character. It’s probably the best character in the movie, just because it’s not what you would expect."
James Gunn also spoke with MTV News about Rocket:
"I'm a very controlling guy. [Rocket Raccoon] is a big one for me, and I have very specific ideas about what Rocket Raccoon is like. [Cooper] lets me push him any which way to get where I want to go. He does not give up. He sits there in the studio all day long until his voice is sore and his eyes are bloodshot, and he's bleeding from his nose and ears. But he's turned in some good raccoon voices, so who cares?"
