Calling attention to all adventurers!
The first-ever official Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) stage production, dubbed "Twenty-Sided Tavern" will takeits Off-Broadway bow in New York City's Stage 42 in April 19 and will be featuring an interactive theatrical experience reminiscent of the tabletop game.
If you're ready to test your luck with the "D20" alongside your friends and "party members," head on over to the production's website and register for access to the pre-sale starting next week on Thursday, Feb. 29. General tickets will go on sale on March 4.
The Official D&D Off-Broadway Show, 'Twenty-Sided Tavern'
This upcoming show is an improvisational play that takes would-be audience-adventurers on a unique quest that will be different in each performance, depending on the decisions made by the viewers through an app made by Gamiotics, a company specializing on live events technology.
Across its run, audiences will be picking which characters will be featured in each particular show they choose to partake in, alongside the overall path the story will take, which will conform to the choices they make along the adventure.
Fret not, however, as the mobile/browser app from Gamiotics is specified to not require any special equipment to run, and will perform reasonably well in just about any modern smartphone model.
Although the show was made with DnD players in mind, prior knowledge of the game's differing editions and its expansive ruleset is not required. So, rest assured that the production will be understandably communicating any necessary mechanics.
Before this forthcoming show, however, it already graced the stages of The Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera and the Edinburg Fringe Festival, alongside numerous sold-out play runs in Chicago in 2022.
The show itself is the brainchild of David Andrew Laws, Sarah Reynolds, and "Slava's Snowshow" producer David Carpenter, and features writing by Laws and game design by Reynolds.
As of now, casting for the upcoming Off-Broadway premiere has yet to be announced.
