Multi Award-winning actress Tyne Daly, who plays the role of Sister Aloysius in the Broadway revival of John Patrick Shanley's "Doubt," is currently well on her way to recovery after she was suddenly hospitalized due to a previously undisclosed illness last Feb. 2, according to People.
What Happened to Tyne Daly's Post in 'Doubt' After Getting Sick?
The 77-year-old Broadway legend was forced to temporarily "give up" her role in the musical revival following her hospitalization, the show of which started holding previews at the Todd Haimes Theatre on Feb. 3.
Because of the unexpected issue, Daly's understudy Isabel Keating took over the role during week one of the show's run. In the subsequent performances starting on Feb. 13, Tony and Oscar-nominated "Only Murders in the Building" actress Amy Ryan succeeded the role full-time.
The production's director Scott Ellis spoke of the recent development in a statement to People, saying, "On behalf of the cast and crew of Doubt, and the entire Roundabout family, we are elated that Tyne is on the mend and on her way to a full recovery."
Before the apparent improvement of Daly's condition, Ellis expressed his "respect and admiration" for the veteran actress and wished her a "quick recovery." He continued by sharing his gratitude to both Keating and Ryan, who stepped up for the role despite the short notice.

The 'Doubt: A Parable' Musical's Previous Successes
The current revival of the musical is based on the inaugural production that opened in 2005 at the Walter Kerr Theatre, completing a run time of over a year. It was considered a critical success, earning a total of eight Tony nominations that year and winning four of them.
These awards include one bestowed for Best Play; Best Actress, which Cherry Jones received; Best Featured Actress, which was given to Adriane Lenox; and Best Direction, which Doug Hughes was the recipient of.
Shanley was also honored with the prestigious Pulitzer Award for Drama in light of his work on the production.
It was also previously adapted into a 2008 film that featured a star-studded cast of Meryl Streep, Amy Adams, Viola Davis, and Philip Seymour Hoffman, all of whom earned Academy Award nods for their respective roles in the movie.
The story itself revolves around a gripping character drama set in an all-boys Catholic school in the Bronx. The main narrative beats start after Sister Aloysius discovers an illicit relationship form between one of the priests in the school, Father Flynn, and a student, and takes matters into her own hands.
