Queen Camilla Admires Local Art During a Visit at London’s Kindred Studios, Including a Painting of Princess Charlotte

In an unexpected Valentine's Day visit to local pop-up art venue Kindred Studios in West London's Shepherds Bush, Queen Camilla delighted the exhibitors as she admired the community's marvelous installations, including an endearing portrait of her step-granddaughter Princess Charlotte.

A Royal Invitation to See the Community and Its Art

According to the Queen, as quoted by the Mirror, the unanticipated art excursion was recommended by her daughter and art curator, Laura Lopes, who made a heartfelt case for the Shepherds Bush venue after she herself had recently visited it.

Camilla told the exhibitors of her daughter's delight after taking a look at the pop-up show's installations, a sentiment that the Queen echoed after seeing all the art in person and after being cordially greeted by film producer and artist Cordelia Plunket.

Plunket's daughter, Ollie Plunket, also served in The Rifles regiment that Camilia has been serving as colonel-in-chief for, starting back in 2020.

As per the UK-based publication, Queen Camilla was quoted saying: "A lot of the pieces are very intricate and I've learned an awful lot from the other artists who have been working here, it's an incredibly vibrant and cohesive community."

The Transformative Power of Inclusive Art Spaces

The artists she mentioned were known through the pseudonym of "Kin," comprising creatives from a variety of disciplines like painting, ceramics, and even fashion design.

Among these artists were under scholarship aid from Kindred Studios, one of which was introduced to Camilla as Jon Rees, a recovered drug addict who previously suffered through homelessness before experiencing the warmth of art and community through the collective.

In Rees' words, the art venue has been his "second home" where he received his "second chance. Inspired by his story and his art, a mural located near the Shepherds Bush market, Queen Camilla expressed his amazement in how "the whole community" is helping one another.

Camilla's visit highlighted the importance of providing inclusive spaces for those looking to be nurtured through culture and art and for those seeking that sliver of hope out of a devastating situation.
