2024 Hollywood Bowl Season Classical Music and Jazz Events
The highly anticipated return of the world-renowned Hollywood Hills amphitheater will start events from June through September this year, including a slew of great classical music and jazz-centric events.
For programs featuring the long-celebrated canon, the venue will see the return of "Classical Tuesdays" and "Classical Thursdays" this upcoming season with programs from both established and emerging institutions and artists.
"Classical Tuesdays" will open with a July 9 program from the up-and-coming conductor and Dudamel Fellowship Alumna, Elim Chan, taking on Rimsky-Korsakov's "Scheherazade" and Prokofiev's "Violin Concerto No. 2," and featuring one of the most prominent violinists of our time, Augustin Hadelich.
The series continues with a July 16 performance from David Afkham, who will be conducting the world-famous soloist Ray Chen as he plays Tchaikovsky. Aside from the aforementioned ones, many other programs will take place through September.
"Classical Thursdays," on the other hand, will open with the July 11 centennial celebration of Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" as performed by pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet and conducted by Lionel Bringuier with a featured performance from opera star Isabel Leonard.
The Hollywood Bowl is also welcoming performances from a wide-ranging category of jazz performers and collectives, starting with T-Pain and the Color of Noize Orchestra's June 19 gig alongside conductor Derrick Hodge and an ever-exciting lineup of singers, instrumentalists, rappers, and more.
Another jazz standout is the "Herbie Hancock Head Hunters 50th," which will celebrate the landmark album of the American jazz legend through his reunion with the original 1973 lineup of Harvey Mason, Bennie Maupin, and Bill Summers, with Marcus Miller acting as a stand-in for the late Paul Jackson.
