The production's music and lyrics are by Pete Townshend, while its book is written by both Townshend and Des McAnuff, who also doubles as the musical's original and returning director.
The original "Tommy" Broadway show held its inaugural run in 1993, which is based on the famed English rock band The Who's 1969 rock opera of the same name.
Its story follows the titular character of Tommy Walker who becomes an emotional wreck after witnessing his father shoot a rival.
From then on, Tommy spends his waking hours gazing continuously at a mirror. However, a strange innate talent for pinball suddenly catapults him into fame.
The upcoming Broadway revival is produced by Ira Pittelman and Stephen Gabriel.
