The 1980s comedy-horror cult classic by the late director Joel Schumacher, "The Lost Boys," is announced to hit the stage in a musical adaptation and is reportedly in development as of date, according to Broadway World.
'Lost Boys' Musical's Star-Studded Pre-Production Team
The production team will comprise a theatrical book co-written by David Hornsby, writer and executive producer of the famed sitcom "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia;" "Shrek the Musical" actor Chris Hoch; Tony-winning director of "Parade," Michael Arden; and the songwriters Kyler England, AG, and Gabriel Mann, collectively known as the band The Rescues.
Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures and Patrick Wilson, known for hit horror films like "The Conjuring" and "Insidious," will be producing the project alongside American actors James Carpinello and Marcus Chait.
Two-time Tony nominee Ethan Popp joins the production's ranks as the music supervisor, offering his musical know-how gained from his days working on acclaimed shows "Tina Turner Musical" and "Motown: The Musical."
Popp will be collaborating hand-in-hand with The Rescues to adapt the IP's legendary film soundtrack that featured a host of famous '80s songs from renowned artists of the time like singer Jimmy Barnes and rock band INXS.

What is 'The Lost Boys' Movie About?
Schumacher's original 1987 film starred Jason Patric, Kiefer Sutherland, and Coreys Feldmanin career-defining roles playing hunky adolescent vampires set in a comedically terrifying story that follows two boys struggling to find their way in the fictional town of Santa Carla, California, eventually finding out that their new home is a prolific vampire's nest.
The movie was originally produced by Richard Donner with writing from Jeffrey Boam, Janice Roberta Fischer, and James Jeremias, and was considered to be a "generational touchstone" within the niche genre of campy horror.
Although the "The Lost Boys" IP itself always had a strong case when it came to being an adaptation prospect, however, its first attempt to do so back in 2022, as spearheaded by Gerard McMahon, was snuffed out early.
As of date, additional info regarding the production's final timeline or castings is yet to be announced.
