Apple has finally released the much-awaited iPad version of the "Apple Music Classical" app, which is free for Apple Music subscribers. However, the equally sought-after Mac version is still unannounced.
The app was technically downloadable on iPads since its release in March, but users were stuck with the iOS version which had a user interface that wasn't scaled for the iPad's wide display, making it feel "cramped."
The new update fixes this problem by offering a more "spacious" version that is formatted for the iPad featuring larger cover art, an improved browsing experience, and a toggleable option for a persistent sidebar that includes buttons for searching, Artists, Composers, Works, Albums, and Tracks.
That said, some features that users have been wanting are still unavailable within version 1.1 of "apple Music Classical. Specifically, the option to download, queue, or autoplay the tracks, albums, and works is still not available for users.
What Does Apple's Classical Music App Offer?
The app is a product made possible by Apple's 2021 acquisition of the "Primephonic" streaming service that primarily offered ad-free recordings of classical music. Currently, "Apple Music Classical" still has that capability thanks to its impressive and amazingly curated catalog of over 5 million tracks.
It is also beginner-friendly with its intuitive and genre-specific organization of the tracks that allows the users to browse beyond the normal streaming service categories. In other words, you can also browse under recordings, words, and composers.
The app features lossless and high-resolution music tracks of up to 24 bit/192 kHz which enables a crisp listening experience. Also, Apple's classical music app includes tracks with 360-degree surround sound capabilities using Dolby Atmos.
