'Transformers 4: Age of Extinction:' Optimus Prime Death Rumors and New Robot Mode Revealed, Official Trailer Coming Soon [PICTURE]

Warning Spoilers Follow. Transformers 4: Age of Extinction is one the most anticipated films of 2014. While fans are eagerly awaiting an official trailer, the world just got its first look at Optimus Prime’s new robot mode. However, it might be the last redesign that Prime gets for the movie franchise. A leaked video from the set seems to suggest that Optimus might die.

The January issue of Empire features the world's first look at Optimus Prime’s new robot mode. The sleek, sword wielding Autobot leader stands tall on the cover behind Mark Wahlberg, Nicola Peltz and Jack Reynor. The cover also reveals the film’s three main locations: Detroit, Hong Kong and Cybertron.

This may be the first live-action picture of Prime in robot mode, however, the Hasbro toy line previously released an image of Optimus earlier in the year. The display image was accompanied by the message:

"Here it is--Transformers Generations Leader Scale Optimus Prime, the very first figure revealed from Transformers: Age of Extinction! You can get your hands on him in May 2014."

A leaked trade show decal also shows the robot riding on top of Dinobot Grimlock.

A video was also leaked from the set in Hong Kong that implies Optimus Prime will die in the new film. Hollywood Hills managed to translate the video's voiceover, revealing Optimus Prime saying his goodbyes to both Wahlberg (Cade) and the Autobots:

"There remains a price on my head, and I risk endangering you if I stay. Cade when you find the remaining stones, mark one as my soul. Defend this family Autobots, as they have you, goodbye, don't forget me."

Earlier this year, producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura confirmed redesigns for both Optimus Prime and Bumblebee, when he spoke to Beijing News:

“I can not disclose the specifics, but you can be sure that the joining of the Dinobots will give the audience new excitement. In addition to Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, the appearance of these classic roles changed, today the world’s coolest, most exciting cars will appear in the film, including China’s vehicles, whether you are a car enthusiast, you will feast your eyes and be shocked by them.”
